“Is ketchup on a hot dog ever acceptable?” asked Anthony bourdain, in conversation with former president Barack Obama. To which he replied, “No, I mean that ... It’s not acceptable past the age of 8.”
Did you hear that? That is the sound of a ketchup man’s heart breaking. That was a while ago, and we got over it. While we are inspired by these two figures greatly, we have to respectfully disagree. For you see, they have not tried our ketchups or may not be aware of the wide array of flavours that can be leveraged within the ketchup spectrum. It is of course, a matter of preference but our official position is that ketchup has it’s place and hotdogs are welcome in it. In fact, we have on offer, a Currygewürz ketchup that was specifically designed to accompany it’s namesake (definitely within the same family of meat products at the very least) but we digress.
We are called The Ketchup Project for one reason, we experiment and push the boundaries of what ketchup can be. From a wide variety of ingredients and colour, ketchup doesn’t always have to be what you expect from the usual suspects of multi-national giants.
A lot of restaurants will offer “bespoke” ketchups that provide a much needed alternative to the standard, and we appreciate that effort, but for us, it wasn’t enough – we built The Ketchup Project to offer a new experience and to help elevate the food we eat everyday, to put a smile on the faces of our customers and to hopefully surprise and maybe even convert a few people along the way.
